350-Powered 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for sale on BaT Auctions – ending May 4 (Lot #190,248)

This 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was purchased by the seller in 2007 and underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in 2012 that included installing a 350ci V8, a replacement four-speed manual transmission, and a Ranger torque splitter. Additional work included performing body repairs, repainting the exterior red, and refreshing the interior. The truck rides on a lifted suspension and 15″ aftermarket wheels, and additional equipment includes manually locking front hubs, four-wheel disc brakes, Tuffy storage compartments, and a Kenwood stereo. This FJ40 is offered with service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Body panels were replaced and the truck was repainted red with a white roof during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a receiver hitch, an aftermarket swing-out spare tire mount and storage basket, and PIAA auxiliary lights.

Six-lug 15″ aftermarket wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires. A 3″ suspension lift, an onboard air compressor, locking front hubs, and four-wheel disc brakes are fitted.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in black upholstery. The cabin features a Tuffy center console and dashboard storage console, a Kenwood stereo, and a roll bar.

A replacement steering wheel and overhead aftermarket auxiliary gauges are is installed. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was replaced during the refurbishment.

The 350ci Chevrolet V8 is said to have been overhauled prior to being installed in 2012 and features throttle-body injection, an aluminum radiator, and a 22-gallon secondary fuel tank. The seller states the engine runs rich.

The truck is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a pneumatic transfer case, and a Ranger torque splitter. The seller notes the transmission was sourced from a late 1970s FJ40 and a frame crossmember was replaced during the refurbishment.
