This 1983 Lamborghini Countach is one of approximately 321 examples of the LP5000 S built over a three-year production run. Chassis DLA12610 left the factory in July 1983 and was delivered new to Emilian Auto of Bologna, Italy, prior to being imported and federalized by Exotic Leasing of St. Paul, Minnesota, later that year. The car is believed to have remained with its first owner in Minnesota until 2001 before being sold in 2002 to its next long-term owner, who relocated it to Massachusetts. Following a refurbishment completed by JE Robison Service of Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2015 and 2016 that involved rebuilds of the 4.8-liter quad-cam V12, six Weber carburetors, flywheel, and clutch assembly, it was awarded 1st Prize in the Modern Classics class at the 2017 Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan. A European-market example, the car is finished in Bianco and features pop-up headlights, scissor doors, and a V-shaped rear wing. It rides on silver-finished 15″ Ruote OZ wheels and is further equipped with a five-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. Inside, Nero leather–trimmed bucket seats are accompanied by a Raid steering wheel paired with a gated shifter as well as an Alpine stereo and air conditioning. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, the car underwent over $29k of work by Dugan Enterprises of Oceanside, California, in January 2026 that is detailed below. Now showing 37k kilometers (~23k miles), this Countach 5000S and is offered in Newport Beach, California, with a Lamborghini Polo Storico certificate, import and federalization documents, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.
Developed as a countermove to Ferrari’s 512 BB, the LP 500 S/5000 S debuted in Geneva in March 1982 and shared much of the design of the LP400 S design while gaining an 825cc displacement increase over its four-liter counterpart. The Bertone bodywork incorporates the higher ride height of the third-series LP400 S as well as the predecessor’s molded fiberglass fender arches and chin spoiler. The earliest examples of the variant featured “5S” rear badging, with the model’s badging soon after updated to reflect either 500 or 5000 designations depending on market.

This example is finished in Bianco and features European-specification front bumper and taillights along with a V-shaped rear wing. Additional details include pop-up headlights, fog lights, scissor doors, and black Vitaloni side mirrors. Work in January 2026 involved repainting the lower rocker seams and airbox covers in addition to fabricating stand-off mounts and spacers for the doors.

Silver-finished 15″ Ruote OZ wheels are mounted with 205/50 front and 345/35 rear Pirelli rubber. The Countach features a fully independent suspension with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Work since 2023 is said to have involved refurbishing the suspension, overhauling the brakes, and replacing the tires as well as fabricating and powder-coating replacement lower rear trailing arms.

The cockpit features fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in Nero leather, which extends to the dash, center console, and door panels. Further interior appointments include an Alpine cassette stereo along with air conditioning and hand-crank windows. The stereo wiring was repaired and the air conditioning system was serviced and recharged in January 2026.

The leather-wrapped Raid steering wheel is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter topped by a Personal knob that was replaced in preparation for the sale. Jaeger instrumentation consists of a 320-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,500-rpm redline along with gauges for battery voltage, oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows just over 37k kilometers (~23k miles). Work in January 2026 involved realigning the speedometer as well as repairing the turn signal lever alarm and the seatbelt and brake fluid warning lights.

The mid-mounted 4,754cc DOHC V12 was a development of the Bizzarrini-designed powerplant used in earlier Countach variants but gained a displacement increase via changes to both the bore and stroke, while the compression ratio was lowered to 9.2:1. The car was factory equipped with six Weber DC50 carburetors and was rated at 368 horsepower when new. The engine in this car was dismantled, blueprinted, and rebuilt by JE Robison Service of Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2015 and 2016. Work involved replacing the pistons, liners, valves, and bearings along with rebuilding the carburetors and performing various wiring and fuel tank repairs.

Service and maintenance since the rebuild has included the following:
- April 2018 – Drive axle leak repaired
- March 2023 – Choke, valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs replaced
- August 2023 – Marelli Magnetti ignition control unit rebuilt
- September 2023 – Wiring harness repaired
- February 2024 – Head gasket changed
- August 2024 – Alternator wiring repaired
- January 2026 – Carburetors serviced, spark plugs replaced, tune-up performed

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the former of which is mounted in the middle of the car, ahead of the engine. The flywheel and clutch assembly were overhauled at the time of the engine work in the mid-2010s. A replacement clutch slave cylinder was installed in 2024, while a replacement exhaust system that was refurbished by JE Robison Service was installed in 2025.

The included Lamborghini Polo Storico certificate is dated May 23, 2025, and lists factory colors and the engine number along with a December 7, 1983 dispatch date.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage from its initial entry in October 1992.
The vehicle has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board.
