New Toyota Corolla concept revealed

Toyota has formally unveiled a new concept car that previews the next-gen Corolla at Japan Mobility Show 2025. The current (12th) generation of the Corolla has been around since 2018 in global markets, and its forthcoming replacement – likely to launch in late 2026 or early 2027 – looks to be a radical departure.

  1. New Toyota Corolla concept gets sharp design with front and rear LED light bars
  2. Interior looks futuristic thanks to space-maximal layout and freestanding centre console
  3. Next-gen Corolla will be sold with EV, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and ICE powertrains

New Toyota Corolla concept exterior design

Sharp LED light bar takes centre stage on fascia.

The new Corolla concept is quite a striking affair on the outside. Up front, it features a full-width LED light bar with segmented sections in the middle and sharp L-shaped LEDs above. There are additional slatted LEDs underneath the light bar, flowing downwards into the air dam.

A massive, steeply raked windshield sits behind the creased bonnet, and the conventional-looking ORVMs suggest that this Corolla concept may be quite close to the production-spec model. Other styling elements of note include a kinked window line, coupe-like roofline, ducktail spoiler, rear LED light bar, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

New Toyota Corolla concept interior

Radical cabin layout frees up lots of space.

Inside, the new Corolla concept leans much more into its futuristic trappings thanks to a pared-back dashboard that maximises space. Instead of a big central infotainment touchscreen, much of the controls have been clustered behind the three-spoke steering wheel, where a digital driver’s display also sits.

The floating centre console notably houses a separate display for the HVAC controls and a unique car-shaped gear selector. Owing to the centre console’s freestanding design, there’s a fair bit of free space between the front seats, and it also alludes to the Corolla concept being an EV.

New Toyota Corolla concept powertrains

Four different powertrains to be on offer.

Toyota has confirmed that powertrain options for the next-gen Corolla will span across full electric, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and ICE. Specifics regarding power outputs, however, remain under wraps at the moment.
