This 1984 Volvo 244 sedan is finished in brown over beige cloth upholstery and is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four linked with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2018, and work performed since has included replacing the tires, timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, power steering pump, and starter. The car was finished from the factory in Brown (202) and was refinished in 2018. Exterior details include mudguards, a single exhaust outlet, and black mirror caps and window trim. The seller states that a rear-end accident with another motor vehicle occurred in April 2024, and the hood and grille were subsequently replaced. The hood is misaligned, the top of the left front door does not sit flush, and the left rear door is noted to stick more in comparison to the others. The uninstalled left rear door trim will accompany the car, and close-up photos of exterior blemishes including dents on the right side and trunk are provided in the gallery below.
The 14″ pressed steel wheels feature trim rings and are fitted with Hankook Kinergy ST tires that were mounted in 2023. The car was factory equipped with power steering as well as a MacPherson strut front suspension and a live rear axle carried by longitudinal control arms and torque rods with coil springs. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front and rear discs. The inner tie rods, brake proportioning valve, and left rear brake caliper were replaced under current ownership.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in beige cloth, and interior appointments include hand-crank windows, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning. There is wear and upholstery damage on the front seats, the ashtray handle is detached, the driver’s window crank intermittently comes loose, the dome light is inoperative, and the stereo has been removed.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog Quartz clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 180k miles, although the seller states that the odometer is not accurate. The oil warning light does not work.
The 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 111 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque. The timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket were replaced in 2021, the power steering pump was replaced in 2023, and the starter was replaced in 2024. There is corrosion beneath the battery. The car most recently passed a California emissions inspection in August 2025.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive top gear. The overdrive function intermittently does not work.
