Features include a button to start gameplay, a multicolor-illuminated playfield, flippers, bumpers, and a drop target. The cabinet is outfitted with a glass playfield cover, displays, and double coin slots. The game was acquired by the seller in November 2024 and subsequently refurbished. Williams Electronics Games was founded in Chicago in 1943, and the company produced its first pinball machine in 1964. Road Kings was introduced in July 1986. The seller notes that 145 hours of work were put into the machine under current ownership. The mechanisms were cleaned and adjusted, the flippers, pop bumpers, and slingshots were rebuilt, the rubber rings were replaced, and LED bulbs, accent lights below the kick-out holes, and chrome cabinet legs were installed.
The playfield is covered in glass and features two flippers, four pop bumpers, three kick-out holes, and a drop target. When the ball is locked into the kick-out hole, the ramp elevates to allow the ball to roll underneath and reach the first switch in the mega-score switch series. Players can launch balls onto the playfield using the spring-loaded plunger or the automatic ball shooter, and multiple balls can be in play simultaneously.
The illuminated backglass displays motorcycle imagery set in an apocalyptic city. Accumulated points and gameplay information are shown on displays within the backglass. Speakers are positioned at the bottom of the backboard.
The front panel is outfitted with double coin slots, coin-return receptacles, a game start button, a ball launcher, and a lockable door.
The playfield can be pivoted upward to access the components mounted underneath.
A sticker affixed to the machine shows the model and serial numbers along with production by Williams Electronics Games of Chicago, Illinois.
