Scarlett Johansson Joins Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist Movie

Scarlett Johansson has been tapped to star in Mike Flanagan’s “radical new take” on The Exorcist at Blumhouse and Universal.

It’s currently unknown what role Johansson will play in the reimagining of the supernatural horror classic, though she could portray Chris MacNeil (originally played by Ellen Burstyn). Flanagan was announced to write, direct, and produce the “all-new story set in The Exorcist universe” in May 2024.

This project marks a creative reset for the franchise following David Gordon Green’s 2023 revival, The Exorcist: Believer, effectively replacing previously announced sequel The Exorcist: Deceiver.
